The other day Delilah and I were talking about ways she can go green. According to some sources, close to 70,000 new pups and felines enter the world each day. Those of them who don’t end up at a loving home end up on the streets. By helping “control the pet population” you are helping to make sure we don’t increase our homeless pet community. If you don’t have a four legged friend yet, try an adoption agency. There are plenty of good animals in need of a good home.
Another way to help your pets go green is to make sure you know what you are feeding them. Trust me, I would love to just buy the cheapest bag of food for my pup and not worry about it, but it would be like someone force-feeding me those hot dogs you can buy ten for a dollar, all day, every day. There are a variety of options for natural and organic pet food. I was in PetCo and found at least five or six different brands with all natural and organic ingredients. I picked up Blue Buffalo, mostly because of the name, and Delilah can’t get enough of it. It’s a little more expensive than what I used to feed her, but it’s still reasonably priced, and besides, can you really put a price tag on the well being of your pet?
The last point I’m going to make is most definitely the easiest way to help your pets go green. People I can not stress this enough; clean up their poop. Not only is stepping in a pile the quickest way to ruin a person’s day, but if you don’t clean up after them, it gets eventually washed into the streets and waterways.
