Like most of us, you probably own a car. We have come up with some tips on how to be environmentally friendly with your driving and vehicle maintenance.
- On the freeway, if your car has cruise control use it as it will regulate your gas consumption. This will reduce the spikes in gas consumption by your acceleration, reduce the amount of emissions into the atmosphere and reduce the cost of your driving trips.
- Combine small trips around town into one larger one as your car will utilize less fuel having to warm up and going the short distances.
- If it is hot out open your windows instead of using the AC, this will reduce the demand on the engine by requiring less fuel to drive the same distance and increase the miles for your gas money.
- Park in the shade, it will keep your car cooler and help reduce fuel evaporation.
- Keep your car clean from clutter such as water bottles and trash. Also, remove any items that are not necessary for your day to day driving. This will limit the fuel your car needs to go the same distance by being lighter.
- Make sure your tires are inflated to the correct tire pressure. Tires that are under inflated force the vehicle to consume more fuel than necessary as it increases the friction with the road.
